An Exhibit in Conjunction with the United Nations

The Gift is an exhibition that provides a different and positive image of what living with disabilities involves. People with disabilities often find that their disability enables them to experience the world in an insightful, empathic and sometimes exultant way not usually available to the able-bodied.

The Gift is being designed in collaboration with the United Nation’s Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the United Nations Office of Exhibitions. It is dedicated to achieving universal passage of the Convention. This is part of an effort to affirm respect for human difference along with the universal acceptance of persons with disabilities so they can assume full and effective participation in society.

This exhibition shows how “the gift” works through a series of dramatic photos, video clips and displays of new technologies that empower and help fully integrate people with disabilities.
This collection will be displayed at the U.N. headquarters in New York and in U.N. offices worldwide. U.N. offices that have expressed interest include those in:
